Stick handling Lab

Warm up drills
Here are a few of my favorite warm up drills. These help reinforce good habits and can be used on or off the ice.

Drill #1 – “Five Point Stick handling”
Find a spot, mark or visualize five points in a semi-circle around your body. Move the puck from point 1 through point 5 and back again. Try to keep it up for at least 1 minute. Control is more important than speed but over time you should try to increase the speed.

Handling the puck (aka stick handling) is another core hockey skill that requires regular practice. Being able to control and keep possession of the puck is basic for any hockey player and will allow you to move the puck up ice to create scoring chances.
